Tri-County Block & Brick, Inc. is a family owned
and operated business that has had it's home in Swanton, Ohio since
1953. The owners, Forrest and Roberta Cooley, located their business
originally on Airport Highway (at the time known as the Chicago Pike)
1/4 mile east of Main Street on the south side of the highway.
At the time we had a capacity of 2,000 block a day and the help of
two employees, In 1957, after the company had established itself.
We were able to purchase a new location on Airport Highway west of
Swanton. Expanding even more several years later, Mom and Dad acquired
a total of thirteen acres of land; the present home of the block plant,
storage facilities and the offices. Installation of a block machine
that manufactured three blocks at a time increased our production
to 5,000 units a day.
In 1969, My parents purchased a ready mix facility from Swanton lumber
and operated it at the Airport Highway location. This successful endeavor
was later sold to Dielman Supply with the desire to retain the original
mission of Tri-County; that of high quality block and expert, personal
service.
Due to an expanding market, we decided in 1994 to enlarge our block
plant, by increasing the kiln capacity and installing state of the
art production machinery. Further expansion in 1996 included an entirely
new facility on sight that boosted production to 23,000 units a day.
Our focus today is the same as when my parents founded the company
- that is high quality concrete masonry units and expert personal
service. We also represent fifteen brick manufacturers and have one
of the largest brick inventories in northwest Ohio.
Today, my Company remains a family operation. Involved in the business
with myself and my wife Karen, are our four sons Robert, Donavan,
Hans, Timothy and our daughter Jennifer. My mother Roberta remains
active in the office . We currently have thirty-four employees and
it is the desire of the Cooley family and employees to continue providing
quality service to the masonry industry. |
